Staff Spotlight - Karen Causley

For our next Staff Spotlight we speak to Karen, our Accounts Assistant. She was once a self-employed administrator that allowed her the flexibility she needed for her young family. She loves travelling, crafts and the fun and laughter that the Stimulus office always provides.

1. 10 years ago, what did you think you would be doing now?

I was working as a self-employed Administrator 10 years ago, which gave me flexibility with a young family as I worked from home and could work hours that suited as long as I got the work completed. Although this was prefect at the time, I did miss the social side of working in an office, I knew it would be a number of years before this would be possible, but my aim was to get back to working in an office environment in a finance related role which is what I love.

2. What quote do you live your life by?

Not so much of a quote, but manners, manners, manners! With the fast pace of life nowadays, I do feel that manners are forgotten sometimes, simply saying “thank you” when someone holds the door for you or “please” when you are asking someone to do something for you, are such small gestures but means a lot and should not be forgotten!

3. What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?

My family are the most important thing in my life, making special memories that I can cherish and look back on are priceless. I am immensely proud of my family and their achievements. My family will always come first no matter what.

4. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am very crafty and enjoy trying all new types of arts and crafts as I find this relaxing and my mind wanders which is a great stress reliever. Travelling is also a passion of mine; I love going to new places and experiencing new cultures and foods.

5. What are you listening to/reading/watching at the moment?

I’m not much of a reader, I start books with all good intentions but rarely finish them.I’m currently watching the TV series “Good Omens”, but this is always on catch-up as I never seem to have time to watch it live!

6. What’s your previous working experience?

Over the years I’ve worked mainly in finance and administration roles for various types of businesses and self-employed.

7. What’s your favourite thing about life at Stimulus?

I have to say my colleagues, we all work hard, but there is never a dull moment in the office and always lots of smiles and laughter!

8. What are you excited about during the next year at Stimulus?

Stimulus is growing and I’m looking forward to growing with the business and the opportunities that this brings. I want to feel that my contribution can also have an impact on our success.
