Staff Spotlight - Karen Haigh

For our next Staff Spotlight, we speak to our team member Karen Haigh, who tells us that aside from being obsessed with coffee and interior design, she once wanted to become a dentist.

10 years ago, what did you think you would be doing now?

10 years seems like an entire lifetime ago now, but I wanted to become a dentist. I always loved the sciences, especially biology, and I was that weird kid that liked going to the dentist because I knew they would take any pain away. However, when I found that I have a mild case of trypophobia, that changed my mind very quickly (taste buds? No thanks).

What quote do you live your life by?

“It’ll all come out in the wash”. Essentially, whatever problem you are facing, it is only temporary, which I find quite comforting.

What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?

This hands down has to be coffee. I don’t have blood running in my veins I have coffee and I run almost entirely on caffeine. I must say that I have gotten much better since university where I would spend countless nights in the library with a cup and coffee and two cans of energy drink… and that’s not including the coffees I’d have during the day!  These days I usually limit myself to 3 cups of coffee at an absolute maximum, baby steps.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have a small obsession with interior design, I love going through Pinterest, home décor websites, watching home design videos on YouTube (I adore Architectural Digest) and I’ve started playing around with an app where you “buy” and design all sorts of living spaces. I also love a bit of baking, but I haven’t gathered up the courage to bring anything into the office yet.

What are you listening to/reading/watching at the moment?

I’m currently watching Queen of the South, the latest season has come out and I didn’t realise I was a season behind! I’m almost there though and looking forward to the newest episodes. In terms of what I’m listening to, I have really been expanding my musical taste and I’m starting to get really into music from different parts of the world. It’s almost like travelling whilst sat at my desk.

What’s your previous working experience?#

Well that is a question that has a lot of answers for me. I’m curious by nature and I think it’s reflected in my previous work experience. I have worked in hospitality, government and finance which I think has really helped me in my understanding of different business applications in Salesforce.

What’s your favourite thing about life at Stimulus?

I mean, how can anyone answer this question without mentioning our office dog Dante? We are constantly learning and when you need a little break, he is the best thing ever to get you to switch off for a few minutes. But equally as important is the office culture we have; it is almost impossible to finish the day without having a good laugh.

What are you excited about during the next year at Stimulus?

I’m looking forward to learning about more Salesforce products and doing more travel with the job. It has been really rewarding to see people have their lightbulb moment and I can’t wait to help more people achieve that.
