For our next Staff Spotlight, we talk to Sam Walley. He started out as a helpdesk advisor before his Salesforce journey began. He's a lover of music and wine making and since joining Stimulus, has built up an impressive Marketing Cloud reputation in the training community.
1. 10 years ago, what did you think you would be doing now?
10 years ago, I was working as a helpdesk advisor, and honestly didn’t have a clue where I wanted to go to next. All I knew is that I didn’t want to be a Helpdesk Advisor forever. I was also playing guitar in bands, so I probably convinced myself that I’d be playing Reading Festival or something.
2. What quote do you live your life by?
I try and go by “Tomorrow’s another day” to tell myself to relax a bit. It works most of the time.
3. What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?
My family is the obvious answer, which I am sure 80% of the people filling this out have answered with. I would also say music, whether its listening or playing it, I couldn’t be without it
4. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Currently I love cycling. I have also got into wine making. My father-in-law gave me a wine making recipe book, dated 1971, that I am planning to make my way through. Next step, potato wine.
5. What are you listening to/reading/watching at the moment?
I have been listening to a lot of podcasts. My favourites are gaming ones like “Rooster Teeth” and “Off Topic”.
6. What’s your previous working experience?
Before Stimulus, I already had a Salesforce career as a Salesforce Admin and Consultant. Before that it was IT support.
7. What’s your favourite thing about life at Stimulus?
It’s the ability and the freedom to build your own destiny in what you are most passionate about. For me it was the way Stimulus helped me develop a pretty impressive Marketing Cloud reputation in the Training community.
8. What are you excited about during the next year at Stimulus?
I hope to work with Stimulus more to bring in more implementation opportunities for Marketing Cloud.
