As a Salesforce training consultancy, our instructors need to ensure they are at the top of their game. This includes achieving and maintaining product certifications, and their instructor status. But, the question is often asked, how do I get admin certified? Here we will tell you more about the process and suggest some great resources to get you there.
If you have never heard of Trailhead, you are missing a trick. This is a great free resource which offers the most up to date content, with hands on exercises and projects. Trailhead is online learning at its best. It takes advantage of gamification to make learning fun by earning badges and points as you go. One of the newer features are Trailmixes. This is where anyone can create a learning path, which can combine various Trailhead modules, as well as links to great resources.
To start you off, we’d recommend the Prepare for your Salesforce Administrator Credential trailmix. Click here and login using your Salesforce username and password.
If you are a fan of online learning, this trailmix will enable you to self-study and prepare for the exam. Make sure you use the study guide to read up on any other topics that you may not have come across.
As training specialists, we believe there is nothing like a blended training approach to really drive knowledge. If you have the chance to attend the Salesforce public workshop which covers much of this content, do it! The Administration Essentials for New Admins class is 5 days in length, and covers some of the key topics of the exam in-depth. The course is available in Classic or Lightning. The best part of the workshop is the expertise of the instructors. You get the opportunity to pose questions, discuss the topics with your class, and really get to grips with how the platform works. If thinking of being out of the office for 5 days brings you out in a cold sweat, you have an alternative. Sign up for the Salesforce Proficiency Pack for Administrators. Focused on getting you ready for the exam, you can attend 2 short webinars a week, combined with self-study through trailhead, and in just 30 days be ready to take the exam.
Last but not least, join the Trailblazer Community. Join Chatter groups, ask questions, and gain knowledge from your peers. This is a great place to learn from others. You can also join local user groups within the community. Many offer regular meetups with like-minded people, interesting presentations from those in the know, and some well deserved refreshments!
